The Information Commissioner's Office from the United Kingdom recently published a GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) self-assessment toolkit on its website.
The "Getting ready for the GDPR" toolkit is designed to help companies prepare for the new legislation. It enables companies to assess their compliance with the principle of accountability, the new rights of individuals, handling subject access requests, consent, data breaches, requirements for transfer of data and other key areas of the GDPR.
Based on the results of the assessment, the toolkit provides customised suggestions of steps to be taken to achieve compliance with the new regulation.
Compared to most other solutions, the toolkit from the ICO has the advantages of being free of charge and having been produced by an official authority, giving a seal of approval to the methodology and conclusions. Use of the toolkit is on an anonymous basis.
